Nothing fancy or flashy about this joint, and if you are looking for post-mod décor, this isn't the place to find it. What Charles' does have, however, is a terrific Southern-style buffet and take-out plates that will send you into sensory overload – fried chicken, liver and onions, oxtails, collards, fried okra, and, of course, mac' and cheese. Daily specials are pretty much whatever owner/chef Charles Gabriel cooks that day, and there is no use arguing. This food may not be the best for you, but it certainly tastes the best.
