Event Details

The National Arts Club and its Fine Arts Committee presents 'Armada – Works on Paper' by Joe Zucker. This amazing exhibition will be held at The National Arts Club (15 Gramercy Park South), through May 28th. It will be open Monday through Sunday starting at 11AM and ending at 5PM. The exhibition is free to the public.

The exhibition is a forty-year survey, as selected by James Panero of The New Criterion, of Zucker's works on paper and the first to focus on his images of the sea.

Joe Zucker was born on the South Side of Chicago in 1941 and graduated from the School of the Art Institute in 1964, returning for his MFA in 1966. After two decades in New York City, in 1980 he relocated his home and studio to the East End of Long Island, where he is an avid fisherman. As pirates, whalers, and slave traders recur in his undulating imagery, the artist Joe Zucker has long engaged with the sea's energy and menace.
