Event Details
The Dominican Film Festival’s (DFFNY) mission is to promote the new generation of Dominican filmmakers as well as established ones, its film industry and to strengthen the vital and expanding economic and cultural relationship with the United States.
We aim to keep New York City audiences engaged with Dominican Cinema and its relation to the history, politics and social life of the country, as treated by the filmmakers, through the subjects and aesthetic approach they focus on.
The films we seek to program differ substantially from those that are typically shown at other film festivals. We make it a top priority to find outstanding work that promotes the best examples of structure, style, language, culture and perspective within Dominican Cinema.
“We look for unique stories, creative plots and bold visions that deepen the understanding and knowledge of life in the Dominican Republic.”
