A well known jazz vocalist Sofija Knezevic and her Sofijazz Quintet, will be performing at a Benefit Concert for the victims of flooding in Serbia, Bosnia and Croatia, Wednesday May 28th, at the jazz club 55 Bar ( Christopher St. & 7th Ave ). Concert starts at 7PM, and besides Sofija includes some of the worlds best jazz musicians: Rodney Green, Elliot Mason, Luques Curtis and others.
“At these difficult times, when between dead, scared, brave and broken people we lose our hopes for a better tomorrow. When the life and the nature remind us that we are not in control, and that we don`t know what can happen tomorrow. Looking at all the young people who willingly and humbly travel to other cities to help build the barriers around the rivers to defend the cities from catastrophe. Looking at the people taking their own food and clothes to give to the victims of the floods. And the people who saved thousands and thousands people from drowning. Looking at the young and the old that are bringing the water, and helping children who don`t know if their parents are alive. All of that inspires us to fight for each other, to love each other and get along. It reminds us that humanity and love always win.” - said Sofija for NBC last weekend.
Help is arriving from every corner, there are many benefit art exhibitions, theater plays and concerts organized to help raise the donations for the victims of floods. One of the concerts that is being held in New York City is specially organized by Sofija Knezevic.
Her unselfish humanity at this moment, when the fight for life is continuing in her country, is exceptional.
“ It`s very difficult for me, to not be able to be with my people at this moment, but with this concert we will try to help as much as we can. Are thoughts and prayers are with them. I follow everything and am trying to help as much as possible, but I have to admit that i couldn`t be more proud of my people right now.” - said Sofija.
