This weekend Auditorium Shores, lakeside in Downtown Austin will be hosting the 2018 Austin Urban Music Festival. The festival is the brainchild of the Urban Life Group who realized that although Austin is the "Live Music Capital of the World" if offered little in the way of celebration of African-American artists and their music.

The Austin Urban Music Festival features award-winning R&B, Funk, Soul, Jazz and Hip-Hop artists and as well as up-and-coming local musicians. The festival has hosted many legendary musicians in the past such as Chaka Khan, Morris Day & the Time, Kool & the Gang, Ray Parker, Jr., Cameo and more. This year special musical guests include Dave Hollister, Vivian Green, Johnny Gill, Zapp and En Vogue. 

The festival will be held on Friday, March 30 and Saturday, March 31 starting at 2 p.m. on Friday. Tickets are on sale now. The Austin Urban Music Festival is 13 years strong this year, showcasing and celebrating African-American artists and their music.
