There are plenty of things to do the New York City during the summer for children and adults alike.

Camp Intrepid is a summer camp aboard the USS Intrepid aircraft carrier anchored in New York Harbor. In Midtown Manhattan there's the New Victory Theater Studio Weeks summer camp where children can go behind the scenes and learn how theater productions are staged.

Take a tram ride to Roosevelt Island for the Metro Junior Summer Tennis Camp, or enjoy the summer live music series and movie nights there.

Board the Liberty Island boat at the Battery Park docks in Lower Manhattan for an unforgettable visit to the Statue of Liberty. The NY Kids Club Summer Adventure Camp is also held close by at Battery Park.

A lot of New York City recreation options can be found at Central Park including a concert series presented by the New York Philarmonic and the Metropolitan Opera. Good Morning America also presents a concert series, which are typically held at the Naumberg Bandshell and at the Rumsey Playfield. The Naumberg Orchestra began offering classical music concerts at Central Park in 1905, the first of its kind in the country.

Taking a carriage ride through Central Park is also quite enjoyable for a romantic summer outing. Carriages await at Central Park South between fifth and sixth avenues.

Summer events in New York City include the Big Apple Barbecue Block Party, held at Bryant Park in June. Bryant Park hosts a Summer Broadway Series every July and August. The HBO Summer Film Festival is also held at Bryant Park, a popular place for bird watching and picnics.

New York City offers a wide and eccentric variety of summer activities for anyone and everyone.  Get up, get out there, and have some great summer fun in the Big Apple.
