About Sommore:
Call here a comedienne — actress — writer — executive producer — entrepreneur, or television host which ever you prefer, but most know here as “Sommore” the undisputed “Queen of Comedy.”
Sommore, an amazing funny woman, continues to break records with her stand-up act to sold out audiences across the country, and carve new paths for comedic entertainment. Sommore has established herself as a household name with her humorous, frank and fearless wit where she tackles topics from mundane politics to controversial life issues that affect everyone. Since her phenomenal rise in 1995 as the first woman to host BET’s “Comic View,” and her return to the network in 2014 as the host of the newly revamped and resurrected “Comic View,” she continues show-up and show-out. In 2000, Sommore’s groundbreaking performance in the “Queens of Comedy” lander her a place in the Guinness Book of World Records where she performed to a crowd of more than 50,000 people in Atlanta, GA. The success of that tour garnered so much praise for Sommore and her fellow comedienne friends, that in 2001 Latham Entertainment went on to reproduce highlights of the tour into a made-for-television special for Showtime Network, which was the highest-rated and longest airing special in the history of the network. Since that time Sommore has been the only female to headline tours with her male comedian counterparts in “Latham Entertainment Presents” and “The Royal Comedy Tour,” not to mention producing her own one-woman shows and performing in comic venues across the country.
Sommore has made her mark in every genre of entertainment since her 2002 debut on the big screen in Friday After Next. She has appeared in several movies and television sitcoms including Family Reunion (2002), Soul Plane (2004), Something New (2006), “The Hughleys” with veteran funny man D.L. Hughley, to acting and performing beside Academy Award Winner, Mo’Nique on “The P
