Event Details

Composer Ola Gjeilo’s concert works are performed all over the world, and his debut recording as a pianist-composer, the lyrical crossover album Stone Rose, was followed by its 2012 sequel, Piano Improvisations. Manhattan Chorale will premiere his work Dreamweaver, a 30-minute work for chorus, piano and string orchestra during this concert.

The New York-based Manhattan Chorale enters the community of choral performance as a one-of-a-kind professional choir dedicated to outstanding performance, education advocacy, and proactive arts administration. Manhattan Chorale presents a historical spectrum of choral masterworks large and small, in addition to contemporary literature and the premiere of new works. The chorale currently features the work of internationally renowned Norwegian composer Ola Gjeilo who also serves as composer-in-residence. Manhattan Chorale’s debut sold out performance at Lincoln Center For Unto Us A Child Is Born in December 2012, featured two movements of Ola Gjeilo’s Sunrise Mass and his Tota Pulchra Es.
