Rigorous Curriculum: Based on the Primary Years Programme (PYP) of the International Baccalaureate (IB) schools in that the curriculum is theme-based and focused learning experiences where students with diverse backgrounds and languages become inquiring, knowledgeable, and supportive of each other. • Co-teaching Model of Instruction: Collaborative team-teaching is our model for inclusion classrooms with two adults in every classroom. • Multiple Forms of Evidence: Performance assessments including projects, portfolios, multimedia presentations, state mandated tests, and written tasks inform instruction and measure progress toward learning goals. • Integrated Arts: The arts are important areas of learning in the PYP. Students will learn the disciplines of visual arts, music and drama, as well as learning about the arts (the skills and processes involved) and through the arts (artists, perspectives, themes and ideas using the arts). • Multi-lingual Environment: Since GCCS will focus on recruiting English Language Learners, home language will be supported and sustained along with learning and improving in English language skills. • Community Development: Since GCCS will draw deliberately from a range of neighborhoods of differing ethnicities, languages, religions, and cultures, community involvement is an integral foundation of our school.
