Lehman Center for the Performing Arts is proud to present two legendary vocalists for the first time on the same stage, ÁNGELA CARRASCO & FAUSTO REY on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at 8pm.

Event Details

ÁNGELA CARRASCO is a Dominican vocalist, actress, and international star. Ángela Carrasco began her career as one of a group of Latin American female vocal icons in the 1970s that included Susana Gimenez, Charytin, Iris Chacon, and Ednita Nazario. She played Mary Magdalen together with Camilo Sesto in the first Spanish version of Jesus Christ Superstar in the mid-1970s, recording "No se como amarle" and "No, no hay nadie mas", which quickly became massive hits. She went on to create "Cariño Mio" and "Quererte a Ti", which became some of her most popular songs, giving her global success across Latin America, the United States, and Europe. In 1985 she released the album, ‘Dama del Caribe’, and in 1988 the album ‘Boca Rosa’. In 1993, Carrasco earned the Lo Nuestro Award for Tropical Female Artist of the Year. In 2015 Ángela Carrasco was honored with the Latin Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. In 2023 she re-released her hit albums, Unidos (Remastered), Con Amor (Remastered), and Dama Del Caribe (Remastered). In March 2024, she received the main award given to popular and classical artists in Latin America, The Premios Soberano top prize.


FAUSTO REY is a Dominican vocalist, songwriter. and guitarist with a smooth style that can range from romantic ballads, boleros, waltz, salsa, merengues, bossa novas, blues, and jazz. During his teens, he performed in the local groups Los Magnéticos and the Brahmins in his hometown of La Romana before joining Johnny Ventura’s Orchestra. Signing with 4Points Records, he recorded his first album Fausto Rey in 1970 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Due to the success of that record, he returned to Argentina to record five additional albums for 4Points. Joining Fania Records, Rey released El Amor Es Natural in 1977, and in 1979, the salsa album, La Responsabilidad with Larry Harlow and his Orchestra with Adalberto Santiago and Nestor Sanchez. In 1982 he created a duo album with the legendary Dominican singer Rafael Colón - Rafael Colón y Fausto Interpretan a: Juan Lockward. Forming his own merengue orchestra, Fausto released the hit song “El Pájaro Herido” and followed up with the album Mi Linda Música Merengue, which contained the hits “De Que Priva Maria”, “Brindemos Más Amor'', and “Se Va La Vida”. Since then he has recorded five additional albums, the most recent one being, Bachata a Media Voz.
