Description

The National Arts Club's Fine Arts Committee is pleased to present a treasure trove of new works in a special Thanksgiving exhibition, titled New Acquisitions/ Restorations/ Discoveries, which runs until November 28th.

Event Details

Celebrating the continued growth and renewal of the Permanent Collection, the show will introduce new works by Fabrizio Arrieta (recipient of the 2014 NAC Residency Program), Carlos Quintana (Guest Artist, 2015) and the unveiling of the newly restored Collection favorite, Shepherds Cottage by Paul Cornoyer.

The nucleus of the National Arts Club’s Permanent Collection is formed by the remarkable paintings that came to the Club as a result of the Artist Life Membership program active between 1909 and 1950. Most of these works have been displayed in the public rooms of the Clubhouse and are familiar icons to most members.

A review and reorganization of the Club’s holdings during the past two years has revealed hidden features within the Permanent Collection, including a modest, yet strong, group of mid-to-late twentieth century works on paper, a complete Ninth Edition of Goya’s Los Caprichos and two compelling photographs by the award-winning photojournalist, David Turnley. Also enhancing the Collection, through the reactivation of the Artists Life Member Program, are works by Ilya and Emilia Kabakov.

The Fine Arts Committee hopes this exhibition will encourage the NAC membership to participate in the ongoing vitality and future of the Permanent Collection.
