Description

Our monthly series is getting a bit of a shake-up. We're moving down to the Bowery, thanks to a generous invitation from Dixon Place to be part of their curated series in The Lounge.

Event Details

Along with the short films and non-profit partner showcases you've come to love, we'll kick off our new location with a reading of the play THE MAMA DRAGON MONOLOGUES, by Sue Bergin and Scott Sublett. Featuring Jes Bedwinek, Andrea Gallo, Katherine McDowell Dugan, Mary McGloin, and Rachel Sorteberg.

"The Mama Dragon Monologues: Mormon Mothers of LGBT Kids Speak Out" is the moving and timely new play made from the verbatim, real words of Mormon women. The play explores the mothers' thoughts and feelings about being torn between devotion to their faith and love for their LGBTQ children, in a complex, layered message of faith, alienation, anger, and love.

We'll also be screening Arden Barlow's short film "visiBiliTy."

Please stay after (and come by early) to talk with the artists and playwrights over cocktails at the DP Lounge! A portion of the ticket proceeds will go to our non-profit partner of the month, True Colors United. Please stay tuned for info. on this month's short film(s)!
