Mental Health Comedy Tour
Headliner: Joe Matarese (Comedy Central Special, Letterman, America’s Got Talent)
Hosted by: Preston Gitlin (SiriusXM, Fox Business, Bloomberg)
In partnership with TWLOHA
To Write Love on Her Arms is a non-profit movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury, and suicide. TWLOHA exists to encourage, inform, inspire, and also to invest directly into treatment and recovery.
Summary
Every month it seems another comedian has taken his or her own life. One of the most recent losses, Brody Stevens, was Joe’s good friend. He was invited to join the Mental Health Comedy Tour, but before we could launch the tour, he took his own life February 22nd, 2019. Brody had a lifelong struggle with bipolar disorder.
Nearly all comedians struggle with at least one of the following mental health challenges: depression, anxiety, addiction, anger management, ADD, and/or bipolar disorder. Joe and Preston decided to use their voices to fight the stigma of mental illness while using their comedy shows to raise money for one of the country’s most influential non-profits, TWLOHA.
